One Big happy little bank!
Purgatory Ski Team’s summer Camp at Mt. Hood is a great opportunity to get 6 quality days on snow. We see huge improvements in skiing fundamentals in these 6 days on snow. The environment is a large part of the accelerated improvements. We train alongside U.S. Ski Team athletes, college athletes, and many teams from around the nation. The training focuses on fundamental improvements with a Slalom progression of 3 days and a GS progression of 3 days. There is world class biking in the area including sandy ridge trail system that we take advantage of in the afternoons. Dry-land activities are mixed in when we aren’t biking, hiking, fishing, etc. This time of year is also a great opportunity to test gear from all of the major brands to figure out what skis and boots are best for your athlete. This testing is all free of charge.
This year, we cannot plan on having an overnight team camp with travel included with the group. If things change we may be able to offer lodging and transportation. Parents will be expected to transport to Mt. Hood, to the mountain each morning, and Lodge and feed. We should be able to coordinate transport down form the mountain to lunch and afternoon activities to allow parents to have full days out in the surrounding Oregon adventures.
The cost of the camp is $1700. We have a pay structure that includes 6 days of coaching and lift tickets, training lanes, adventure park day, and coaching travel/lodging/food. We are happy to offer 5 month financing on the camp to help spread the cost out.
Our camp days will focus on Balance, Rotary, Edging and Pressure with lots of consistent pitch rhythm sections. The repetition achieved in this camp is great for learning and solidifying fundamental skills for improved technique. Technique allows for more aggressive tactics leading to less distance traveled and therefor faster skiing. We will focus on early edge pressure to the outside ski.
Activities include the Sandy Ridge trail system which has great flow trails in shady Pacific Northwest forests. There is a trail system in town that has good intermediate terrain and options down valley shuttles or up the back side of Mt. Hood Ski Bowl in town in Government Camp. There are some great spots for the kids to relax and play around on the beaches of the Sandy River. We go to the adventure park on our off day. They have alpine slide, batting cages, zip-lines, bungie jumping (small scale), mini golf, and much more.
