2012/2013 Season
The Alpine and Snowboard Cross Team is designed to cater to athletes eager to compete in USASA Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Snowboard Cross race competitions. The program’s emphasis is placed on improving an athlete’s technical ability to perform high speed maneuvers and maintain control in an alpine setting. Athletes will explore proper course technique on slalom, giant slalom, and snowboard cross courses.
Alpine and SBX athletes will take advantage of on-snow training all day Saturday and all day Sunday.
Athletes will also be expected to participate in two days of dryland training at Durango Stillwater Foundation.
The Alpine and Snowboard Cross program is primarily a travel team; therefore participants on this team will be expected to travel to regional USASA events and surrounding mountians including Telluride, Crested Butte and others. Primary goals of this team include improving athletes’ skills in above areas, and to qualify for USASA National Championships. Athletes will also be allowed/encouraged to compete in half-pipe and slope style competitions.
