The Durango Orthopedics/Spine Colorado SW Freestyle Open on February 17-20, 2012 will feature the top mogul skiers and aerialists in Colorado. The mogul skiing action measures over 200 meters of steep fall line skiing with a huge air on the bottom  and will take place 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday with dual moguls taking place on Sunday.  Monday will feature a big air contest and all are welcome to enjoy the show!

It’s time for our third and final fundraising event for the 2011.12 season – The 11th Annual Snowdown Spaghetti Dinner.  This year’s event will take place the evening of Friday, February 3rd with pre and post Snowdown Parade seatings.

To ensure this event is successful, we need your help pre-selling tickets.  It is not necessary to pre-purchase tickets, simply “check-out” tickets and sell them to your family and friends.  We’ll be at the Chapman House January 17th and 18th to distribute tickets to athletes; if we miss seeing you during training, tickets may be checked-out at Magpies Newsstand Café.  While each team benefits, individual athletes will get a 20% return on their ticket sales from DWSF.  It is important for athletes to keep track of their sales and return any monies collected and/or unsold tickets to Magpies Newsstand Café or to me, Cynthia Aspen, or the event coordinator, Donna Chase, no later than 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2nd. 

Mutu’s Italian Kitchen has generously offered to prepare the meal.  There will be two seating’s – pre and post parade 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Dinner tickets are $9.00/adult; $5.00/child (12 and under).  All dinner tickets and donations are tax deductable and benefit all of our teams.

The DWSF Snowdown Dinner has been said to be the best Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser in town.  Yes, the food is delicious, but most importantly, our supporters really appreciate seeing the kids and families working the event together.  To continue the tradition, many volunteers are needed to cover shifts – set up crew, strong kitchen support, food line and beverage servers, etc…  We’d love to have your help for this fun and festive event. Simply click on the link below and select your preferred time slot and job.  Volunteer hours will be credited to your work deposit.

Tough conditions in terms of weather and race managment made it a challenging weekend but all our racers were fighting through!

We WILL be training at Chapman this week.  SL skis tonight (Monday) and full SL gear on Wednesday.

Time is 6- 7;30, we will train Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.(Jan 3/4)

Please bring GS skis both days this week.

Next week we will begin regularly scheduled training Mondays and Wednesdays 6-7:30 PM.

Generally we will be doing free skiing drills and video on Monday and SL training on Wednesday.

Season Passes are available for $64.00 at the Ice Rink.
