Four Corners FreeRide

 

2012/2013 Season

This program is designed for those accomplished skiers who would like to learn Freeride and Big Mountain techniques, including advanced technical skiing skills in a variety of terrains and conditions, tree-skiing, park and pipe techniques including air and tricks, line selection, snow conditions, safety and avalanche training. Training will utilize Durango Mountain Resort, Silverton Mountain and Wolf Creek as determined by schedule and availability. This program will initially be limited to 6 participants ages 13 and older. An application and coach recommendation will be required before admittance to this program.

*Note: As this is a new team, all interested athletes and parents will meet with Coach and Director in Late October/Early November to discuss some of the program’s limitations and exciting opportunities.

Team Focus:
This is to teach those accomplished athletes Freeride and Big Mountain techniques, utilizing our local terrain. This team is intended for highly skilled athletes with maturity and focus. There is no room on this team for those individuals who are not serious and responsible as the safety concerns are very high. There are a few Extreme Skiing competitions at Taos and Crested Butte which may be a possibility as determined by the Coach.

 

Additional Requirements:

    • Additional equipment will be required (TBA)
    • Additional fees for passes for various training facilities (TBA) (Backcountry Class additional)

 

Ages:
13 – 18

This program will consist of the following training sessions:

On Snow Training: (DMR, Wolf Creek)(Dec 8th – March 25th, 2013)
All day Saturdays and Sundays 9am – 3pm

 

Dryland Training (Oct 8th – Nov 19th, 2012):
A blend of trampoline, gymnastics, core strengthening.

IMPORTANT CHANGE: As of November 8th, 2011, Athletes are NO LONGER required to obtain a license or join the USSA organization to be members of the Purgatory Ski & Snowboard Team. Athletes will have to join USSA ONLY if they compete in an USSA event or competition.

 

Memberships:
ONLY Athletes who participate in USSA Events & Competitions will be required to join the United States Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA) and have a photo copy of their membership card on file with the team. The USSA is the national governing body for US Olympic skiing and snowboarding, and the parent organization for the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing. They are paired together with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and share governance in selection of athletes to the National U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams. The Purgatory Ski Team is a proud member and sponsor of the USSA organization.

2012/2013 Work Depost – $150 (refundable)
2012/2013 Dryland Training $75
2012/2013 Travel Fees – $75/day
